ABOUT
Orb events is an events management company based in Dubai, dedicated to creating and organizing events with local and international talents. The company is headed by co-partners who have a collective experience of 30 plus years in producing, directing and performing in both musical and regular theatrical productions as well as organizing various kinds of other events.
We aim at producing quality theatrical productions with local talents; sourcing international productions from across the globe; organizing theatre, visual arts and literature festivals; organizing other performing arts events like dance shows, stand up comedy, poetry and musical shows; visual arts exhibitions; talent hunt for various events and screen shows including advertising; films and series and related workshops. We also undertake filming of all kinds of events and train raw talent to be part of the performing arts community in the UAE.
SABIHA MAJGAONKAR
Founding Partner
Sabiha has over 15 years of experience in theatre and 20 plus years of experience in the corporate world, mainly in removals and logistics. She has lived most of her life in the UAE and considers it her home. Sabiha stepped into the world of theatre in 2005 and has never looked back. Apart from being an actor, director, writer, producer and theatre teacher, she has managed operations of The Junction, and was the Festival Director of Short+Sweet from 2018 to 2020. Having started the community theatre group Orb Theatricals in 2014, she has produced, acted in and directed several short plays and full length productions under the banner. Sabiha has also acted in, and has ventured into, directing short films recently. She believes in the "power of art" to bring about change in the world. Her vision is to create events that bring people closer, build talent and foster fruitful collaborations in the UAE.
RACHEL KOSBAR
Founding Partner
Rachel has been involved with theater most of her life. She joined the drama club in her 4th year of school, and participated in school productions throughout high school. By the age of 12, she knew she was in love, and wasn’t sure she would ever want to do anything else. She spent her late teens and early twenties working with school theater departments part time, building sets with her father, and creating costumes with her mother.
After taking a break to start her family and living as a military family, she returned to theater and rediscovered her passion participating in various productions since 2014. Rachel moved to the United Arab Emirates at the end of 2018, and began participating in Dubai theater in 2019 through acting, and producing. She is passionate about the theater community here, as well as growing and strengthening the arts community in every way possible.
NUZHAT BAIG
Office Manager
Nuzhat has overall 16 years of work experience in logistics/removals, hospitality, and real estate. In primary school, she actively participated in singing and dancing and was an avid basketball player in high school. Her passion to learn something new every day is the fuel for her very existence and being Dubai bred since birth; she has valuable experience not only in terms of living, but also working with various departments during her employment. Nuzhat has been creatively inclined since childhood and has a knack of everything “Art”, be it painting, craftwork and in the recent times making gourmet chocolates! She is now an enthusiastic part of our team who not only manages the office for us but is also set and ready to tap into her deeply creative side in the amazing world of Performing Arts.
ANGELINA VERGHESE
Photographer/Videographer
Angelina has over 25 years of overall working experience. Before she ventured into exploring her passion for photography, she has traveled the world as Emirates Cabin Crew for 11 years. Apart from her passion for photography, she bakes customized cakes, is an animal rescuer and is a voice-over artist for films and radio. She is also a theatre and screen actress and has been the official photographer for Orb Theatricals, our community theatre group since 2014. Angie is also into wedding planning where she can fully apply her love of romance and all that comes with it. She has recently expanded her learning and has ventured into videography. "Creating Memories" is her motto and it gives her great joy and satisfaction to bring a smile to people's faces.
SIKENDAR HEMANI
Photographer/Videographer
Sikendar is an engineer by profession and an independent filmmaker. He runs his own theatre company called Drama Galleries and has numerous short plays under his belt as a director. He won the best director award in Alex Broun Theatre Festival in 2016 for his play "Pushed." Sikendar has been in Dubai for 16 years now and has been active in theater for 9 of those. He was the president of the drama club at Heriot Watt and has led his team in various inter-college theatre competitions. He has won the best short film at Bits Pilani Festival and has directed a number of sketches and short films under Drama Galleries over the last few years. Apart from staying behind the camera, he is also a screen and theatre actor and has been involved in covering events and performances for about four years now including numerous productions of Orb Theatricals.
